TV productions to enrich Iranian small screen

Iranian television is gearing up for an eclectic lineup of series.

Iranian television is gearing up for an eclectic lineup of series and diverse offerings.

1. ‘Naria’ production nears completion after 14 months of shooting

The filming of the television series ‘Naria’, produced by Mohammad Mesripour and directed by Javad Afshar, is nearing its final stages after about 14 months of production.

The crew is preparing to shoot the last scenes in Van, Turkey, and Armenia. Meanwhile, Movahed Shadrou is editing the series.

So far, ‘Naria’ has been filmed in various locations, including the Iranian provinces of Tehran, Kermanshah and Kordestan.

Due to the seasonal scenes required by the script and to expedite the production, two film crews were working simultaneously at one point. Hadi Afshar directed the second crew.

The series, which consists of 50 episodes, is being produced on commission by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).

Hamid Rasoulpour Hedayati skillfully crafted the screenplay, and Javad Afshar provided the finishing touches through expert editing.

‘Naria’ boasts a star-studded cast, including Saman Saffari, Amir-Yal Arjmand, Kazem Balouchi, Fariba Motamed, Kaveh Sammak-Bashi, Nasim Adabi, Vida Javan, Kamand Amir-Soleimani, Sepand Amir-Soleimani, Azita Torkashvand, Rambod Shekarabi, and Afshin Sangchap.

2. ‘20 Covid’ series to hit the air on IRIB 3

The television series '20 Covid', produced by Abolfazl Hajatmand and directed by Hadi Hajatmand, will air on IRIB 3 Channel.

The producer noted that ‘20 Covid’ is one of the IRIB's latest productions, focusing on the events of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He emphasized that while the series centers on the events of the pandemic, it approaches the subject through lighthearted and sweet narratives to offer a refreshing and uplifting perspective on the pandemic, mixing heartwarming stories with important social commentary.

The story begins before the COVID-19 outbreak and follows the efforts of grassroots groups, including local mosque volunteers and rural communities, as they assist in various ways, from everyday needs to supporting vaccination efforts. However, one character stands out due to their unique motivation for joining.

The cast list includes prominent actors such as Aliram Nouraee, Javad Soltani, Mohammad Delgosha, Hassan Zarei, Azita Torkashvand and Mir-Taher Mazloumi.

3. ‘Salvation’ explores life after death in unique spiritual drama

The upcoming TV series ‘Salvation’, produced and directed by Masoud Dehnamaki, explores the afterlife concept of 'Barzakh' in Islam.

This series promises a fresh perspective on the intermediate state between death and resurrection.

According to early announcements, the plot of ‘Salvation’ differs notably from other supernatural TV series previously aired on the Iranian television.

While ‘Salvation’ deals with serious themes like death and the process of dying, the series is not in the horror genre but rather a spiritual and contemplative drama.

Its core theme revolves around ‘Haqq al-Nas’ (rights owed to others) and the moral consequences of one’s actions in the afterlife.

The series also emphasizes respect for family members, particularly parents.

‘Salvation,’ which will be aired in 30 episodes, features a star-studded cast of more than 100 well-known actors, including Hamid-Reza Hedayati, Alireza Ostadi, Ramin Rastad, Mehdi Solouki, Rambod Shekarabi, Kaveh Sammak-Bashi, Afshin Sangchap, Reza Tavakkoli, Nafiseh Roshan and Pourandokht Mohaymen.
